I'm with elsewhere, they have been carefull not to say it's not allowed, they only said that they don't endorse it. This way the local elders can pressure groups to cease and desist. While at the same time they can say "we never said that, and if local elders took that stand then they overstepped". They never say anything definitively in the literature, that way they have plausable deniability.

I think that question was doomed to fail, since it requires people who don't respond to respond. LOL, just a thought.

Should I tell him how I feel or let it go?
by megsmomma inbrief history: my mom shuns me, my step dad is not a jw but thinks pretty much like one and called me apostate when i tried to tell him some things.
my step dad and i have never been close, he was verbally abusive to me growing up.. well, last week he and my mom fly up my ex- and his wife with my daughter (all jw's) to go boating with them and my sisters kids.
i am glad my daughter got to see her cousins....but, i am sure if they talked about me at all it was not positive talk.

Can you think of how much the WTS changed in those 6 years?
No more end of the calling for the annointed in 1935.
All sort of fractions allowed now
what else?

We Are Dying!
by WeAreDying-Ophelia inthis is my first post and might be my only post, not sure.
i've chosen to "come out" for a moment just to talk about the 30 minute change in the public talk on sundays.
my father and brother are both elders, this change was a blow to them they enjoy giving encouraging public talks to the friends.

May I ask, why is that important?
For me that's important because as a father, I would not want a bunch of people who I didn't know giving my minor child advise. That being said, I'd like to welcome you to the site. I empathise with you. I too have recently (within the last year) begun to question what the organization was thinking. What caused me to question things is when i found out that the Watchtower Society had been a member of th United Nations. I didn't want to believe it and actually wrote the society to ask if it was true, and if it was, how could they do it? Their reply shocked and dissapointed me. Not only did they admit that they were members for 9 years but they tried to justify it. That started me questioning things and here i am. I'm still in, never disfelloshipped or disassociated but my meeting attendence is poor. I can't help but feel that we have been following men's will and not God's.
Welcome to the site, I hope you stick around,
RV

USA is Addicted to War
by frankiespeakin inthe us government has hundreds of miltary bases in other countries, military spending is where 50% of your tax dollars go, there are huge profits to be made by big business in this.
one thing that is needed is that human consciousness of the problem, (minus the propaganda indoctrination) needs to be raised to a higher level, i see signs of this happening, but as yet it is not enough yet to make the sweeping changes that are needed so that we don't wind up inihilating the whole human race, our consciousness has not keep up with our technology of weapon making, profits and self interest put us in the dangerous path leading to nonexistance:.

Historically the US has been reluctant to go to war. The Revolutionary War was an act of desperation, most people (even the signers of the declaration of independence) would have prefered to work things out with the king. Slavery festered for seventy years before the civil war. WWI went for three years before we got in. It took an outright attack to get us into WWII.
It may be fashionable to assume that the current administration is the evil heart of America. I think that is unjustified when examined closely.
"unconditional peace"
A ten dollar word for "surrender"I couldn't agree more. Nobody likes war but sometimes their is no choise. Hitler is one example, we could have avoided war at all cost but then we would all be speaking german right now if we don't have Jewish ancestors. In that case, we wouldn't be here.
